Michael founded VLS out of the recognition that administrative lab leaders lacked accessible avenues for growth and mentorship, especially for directors and managers who are often the most senior in their organizations and have limited options to advance their expertise or gain outside perspective. By establishing VLS, he aimed to create a supportive, external resource dedicated to education, confidence-building, and sustainable leadership development for those steering the future of laboratory.

•  Michael is a distinguished US Army veteran with 22 years of service and over a decade of director-level leadership in the civilian healthcare sector. 
• Leveraging four years as a Joint Commission (TJC) Surveyor, he has conducted regulatory and compliance inspections at more than 200 healthcare facilities across the country.
• Michael holds the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) credential.
• Michael authored a free 30-episode webinar series on lab management to benefit lab leaders.
